Dan - USA Trance DJ
Dan
Funky and cool, that’s DJ Dan for you. A native of Olympia, DJ Dan got behind the decks by fourteen apart from dabbling in clothing designing, which saw him land up in Seattle’s prestigious Thomas Edison School of Design, where he topped his class. But his true calling lay elsewhere. Music beckoned as he hooked up with L.A DJ Ron D Core and not long after in 1992 became the city’s happening DJ.
Dan and Ron then launched No-Doz, a club that set the standards for after hour parties. With name came fame and very soon Dan was heading north to San Francisco at frequent intervals.
Dan is considered the pioneer when it comes to the signature West Coast house sound in association with the Bay Area DJ Collective Funky Tekno Tribe.
The unique sounds with funk and hip-hop with breaks and soothing melodies influenced Dan into making several innovations on his own tracks. Dan became an international figure with the release of the ground breaking ‘Loose Cannon’ by Electroliners, a track he co-wrote and co-produced with Jim Hopkins. The track was launched in UK and this started a classic partnership with the one and only DJ Carl Cox. Dan has remixed projects for Groove Armada, Filter, A Tribe Called Quest, Olive and Orgy and Keoki.
‘In Stereo’ from Kinetic is in fact that first release from them for a West Coast artist. In Stereo sees Dan collaborate with fantastic artists of different electronic genre including LTJ Bukem, Sasha & Digweed and Sandra Collins. This album is Dan’s first major release after parting hands with Moonshine Music where he had earlier released immensely popular albums including ‘Beat $ Freaks’ (1998), ‘Funk The System’ (1999) and ‘Another Late Night’ (2000).
In Stereo comes to you with eighteen songs, raw and very true to the way Dan spins. In stereo is all about West Coast. “This is definitely a party CD” is how Dan himself describes In Stereo. We aren’t complaining. Let’s party guys, while Dan spins ‘em for us.
