Roger Sanchez initially started DJing as a hobby. He never thought that this would grow beyond one. But destiny had something else in store for this talented artist. He found his calling when studying for a degree in architecture when his father advised him that music might be a better bet. It did turn out to be the right choice for one of the most famous house DJs in the world.

His first DJing experience came when he was only thirteen. While growing up, Roger was always fascinated by disco, hip hop, salsa, and blues. This explains his prowess with hip hop scratching techniques, which he uses to great effect in his mix compilations.

Anyone who has heard his single ‘First Contact’ would vouch for the high standards he sets for himself. He effortlessly moves between electronic instrumentals, warm vocals, and brash electronica, in his own inimitable style. His penchant for experimentation is amazing. The experience of running a pretty successful night club quite early on in his life has helped him with the basics. A versatile person, he has also made a mark as a break-dancer of repute. He did cameos in movies like ‘Krush Groove’ and ‘Breakdance’, purely based on his break dancing skills.

When not behind decks, you can find him in his studio. He is a prolific producer releasing under his own name as well as under monikers. His remixing skills too are much sought after. The artists he has worked with include Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, The Police, and Underworld. This apart his hectic schedule includes taking care of his own record label ‘R-Senal’.
